There is a magic to our thoughts. We think we get up in the morning and do our best to fulfill our dreams, but often we fail. We get frustrated and feel like life is a burden. Here is what is important: Life is a gift, treat it well and you will enter a stage that you would have never dreamed possible. The key is your own thoughts. The only obstacles are your own doubts, disbeliefs and your fears.

Fortunately, it is pretty simple. Everything we do is triggered by our thoughts. So we have to control our thoughts.

How do I start?

Firstly, we have to stop complaining and blaming others and the circumstances for things that happen to us. Don’t complain about things that come your way. Instead, try to understand them and what they mean. Every incident that happens to us is a piece of the puzzle of our pathway.

Secondly, love and accept yourself. You only can love others when you love and accept yourself. That does not mean being selfish, the opposite is the case. Don’t ask yourself how you can take advantage of a situation, ask how you can support others instead of what is in for me.

Thirdly, we have to find meaning in life. While this is especially difficult for most younger people, it is very important to feel a sense of purpose within yourself. Look for activities that trigger your passion. Once we see clearly our destiny it seems effortless to define goals and achieve them.

Be present, observe and ask yourself constantly and unconditionally: how can I support others?

The key to reaching objectives is to know what you want. Find a rational reason to change, contemplate and imagine the stage as if you would already have what you want and then let go. Letting go sounds counterproductive, but letting go does not mean forgetting. Letting go means keeping your goal in mind while avoiding constant inner dialogs. If you let go and live in the present moment you will find signs at every corner that will help you reach your target. Living in the moment means observing, not demanding. Living in the moment means learning from the past and trusting in the future.
What does this mean? Learning from the past is essential, but the past cannot be undone. We can learn from the past but we have to accept the past as it is. Inner dialogs, over and over again, about happenings from the past will not get you on track, it is a waste of energy. You have to let go of the past.

Trust that your thoughts will materialize in the future

Once you detach yourself form the past and every future outcome you will overcome and lose your fears. Our fears are a big show stopper. For everything you want in your life you will find a thousand reasons why it will not happen, because of your fears. Once you contemplate what you want, let go and live in the present and your fears will vanish.

Most fears got imprinted during our childhood, and over the years they grew bigger and bigger and can be a big obstacle in our lives. One of the most dangerous sources of fears can be the media. By watching TV, especially the news, your fears get fed. The amount of good news has vanished over the years, bad news sells. It is your decision how you feed your brain, but daily high dosages of negativity will make you sick. It is not only clogging your brain and distracting you from your goals, it will make you more fearful, will create disbeliefs and memes. Richard Brodie, “Virus of the Mind”, explains that memes (e.g. advertising commercials) are working with the same pattern as computer viruses, manipulating and clogging your brain negatively. Use your spare time to elevate your life. Be selective about how you feed your brain. It is a precious think tank!

The importance of meditation

One of the most overlooked tasks is to give our brain rest, regularly. Some find it in a deep meditative stage, some find it in yoga, and some in sport: the situation where you simply don’t think about anything or being 100% in control of your thoughts. For most this is far more difficult than it sounds. Try it: think nothing for 3 minutes!

It is important to be dedicated to the practice of meditation to receive the benefits. It is best if you can meditate for 20 to 30 minutes at the start of your day, and again for the same amount of time at dusk. Once you start to feel the deep peace and inner joy it brings, it will become an important part of your daily routine that you will look forward to.

You may not feel immediate results. It’s like planting a seed tending to the soil and watering it daily. You watch it and nothing happens, but you keep nurturing the seed, and then one day a magnificent flower blossoms.

Keep meditating and one day the light will enter your vessel. It will open your mind to unlimited possibilities and creativity. You will feel the universe through love, peace and joy. It will change your life. You will find purpose and transform your challenges into blessings. You will see the goodness in others and make a difference in the world.
